In 2008, you gave me the honor to serve our city as a trustee on the Governing Board of the San Francisco Community College District. I campaigned on the idea that education can transform lives, how it gave my mother, my wife, a City College alum, and me a chance to dream.
Guided by this core belief, I fought to expand the power of education to more families, knowing, too, that a 21st century city needs to invest in the aspirations of all of its people.
Our task has not been easy -- and we have a lot more work to do. But to prepare our people for the jobs of today and tomorrow, we had to challenge old, failing structures, insist on smarter investments, and demand greater transparency and public accountability. These are the building blocks of a just, innovative, and prosperous city, because our economy is only as strong as our schools and colleges.
We have more work to do to build a future where everyone can dream. Let's build it together.
I'd be honored to have your support again this November.
With gratitude,
